about
The song represents the confluence of many needs that occur during a global pandemic. The ability to create, collaborate and make music with friends helped saved me during a winter of lockdowns, social distancing, and quarantine. This song also represents a great opportunity I had to record with my stepson, Luke Stangohr who generously provided his home studio and his fine-tuned musical sensibilities to this production. Further, this song represents an opportunity to give back to others in a year where our love and humanity for each other was severely tested. Therefore,100% of the funds I receive in donations to this song will go to a cause that is near and dear to my heart - Foster Youth. Specifically, older foster youth who are transitioning out of care towards independence. As such, your contributions will go to The Division of Indian Work, Youth Leadership Council in Minneapolis. The program serves to prevent a host of negative outcomes that occur disproportionally with foster youth. The program also provides opportunities for increasing youth voices in the implementation and evaluation of foster care policy and practice.
lyrics
You told me that you love me, you’d never do me wrong
But I listen to the whispers, as we walk along
You said we’d be together, always treat me right
But when I take you out, all you do is want to fight
You told me that you love me, you promised to be true
But after all these years, you’ve only made me blue
You said we’d be together, till death do we part
But when I need you baby, you only break my heart
Don’t you remember?
Don’t you recall?
All the loving feelings, ready for the fall
Looking towards a future
Put the past behind
Thought we had the dream – now all we do is scream!
Don’t you remember?
Don’t you recall?
All the loving feelings, ready for the fall
Looking towards a future
Put the past behind
Thought we had the dream – now all we do is scream!
Tell me where did you stay last night?
I surrendered to the morning light
Tell me what is this love that you need?
Why do your words cut so deep?
I feel broken
We’re just broken
So, so broken
Forever broken
